They are lol. I swear I could watch chicks dust bath all day 💛 I'll see if I can work out how to post a link of them using one of the little baths :D Chick brooder tiny dustbath :)
Omg I looove setting up brooders for chicks, so much fun. Here is one of my hatches, in 3 stages as they grew (the last stage isn't standard, but we were moving house so they had to stay in our living room in a tent for a couple of weeks while we set up the new coop 🤣 )

yes in Australia :) We do have sand and gravel etc all around the yard where they free range. I do have whole oyster shells I hadn't crushed yet, so I'm trying just putting a shell in the water. Apparently it leaches into the water. I tried that incase she wasn't getting calcium through other...
It's actually a grit sorry, but its very fine (I just call it powder), the produce shop calls it "Turtle Grit" hmmm now I'm concerned its not what I should be using 😟.. I'll see if I can post a link to the product. I have seen the girls pecking at it so I assumed it was ok, they all have really...
Thank you everyone for all of the wonderful thoughts and suggestions 💛 🙏 She has just started laying again the past few days so feeling very relieved she is ok. I'm still not sure if it was stress or calcium... all the other girls were laying without issue, but I did take the advice and put out...
Ok, thankyou. She visits each day, mostly I think to hang out near the other hens, not actually 'sitting'. I do have a bowl of free feed calcium near the boxes, do you think a pill would still be a good idea?
That is what I thought at first, but we have searched the yard and not found one (we only have a fairly small yard). Unless its under some mulch or something.. I wouldn't say 100% no though. Would that be the most likely explanation? Is it possible for a pullet just to stop laying for 3 weeks...
One of my pullets started laying about one month ago. She is an easter egger and lays a blue/green egg. She laid consistently for about a week (about 5 or 6 eggs, all normal). Then stopped, it has been about 3 weeks now since she last laid.
I'm pretty sure it isn't dietary as the others are all...
omgosh yes! 'Willow' has just been the best broody mum!! I ended up putting all the incubator eggs under her too and she has 5 gorgeous little chicks (some are easter Eggers and some Cream legbars). They are all doing very well and she is the happiest little momma hen right now :D
Thank you for the great info :) I am in Australia so its summer hear (well late summer, but still warm).
It's lock down day tomorrow so I'm trying to decide today what to do next ~ incubate chicks to hatching and then transfer or give them all to the hen tomorrow.. so hard!!!
oh no, yep well mothering is never easy, especially the first time, I recall that lol. She has been broody so often I'm so excited for her to have chicks finally. She's such a sweet hen :)
