    Meat Bird+ Project: Delaware/New Hampshire/Barred Rock

With respect, I think you may have mistaken my post. Research Henry Knoll as a breeder these New Hampshire absolutely are not freedom rangers... these New Hampshires were bred by Henry Knoll and Freedom Ranger Hatchery Bought them before Henry Knoll passed away he also bred Delaware of the...

    Why do breeders do this?

I also use color zip ties along with a toe puncher and I'm breeding quality byc and I'm probably as serious as a game breeder about my stock and hatches 😅 I'm waaay into it!! And with the several breeds I have it makes it quite easy to tell the chicks apart except I have 3 different lines of...

    Meat Bird+ Project: Delaware/New Hampshire/Barred Rock

I am also curious about the new hampshire x plymouth barred rock cross! As i have a exhibition line of the plymouth barred rock and they are big and not even sexually mature yet but close. Also I have had (but no longer) Delaware of hatchery stock and they were also big. Very excited about...

    Meat Bird+ Project: Delaware/New Hampshire/Barred Rock

I have the freedom ranger new hampshires here's a teaser of pics I just posted this in another thread but they are huge compared to standard new hamps downsides are 1 bumblefoot. 2 heart attacks most likely from size. And 3 color is off from standard new hamps. The goodside.. they breed...

Anyone ever use New Hampshire Red's for meat chickens

One thing about breeding them is they can sometimes die of heart attacks probably because of their size but ive kept them going for over 2 1/2 years but if you have an incubator shouldn't be a problem i have seen hens go broody as well

Anyone ever use New Hampshire Red's for meat chickens

If you want new hampshires for meat and eggs both best bet is what I have. and they are cheap at freedom ranger hatchery. They ship almost year round also! Henry knoll line i also have standard new hampshire chickens and the comparison isn't even close the Henry Knoll New Hampshires lay very...

How intense is your pecking order?

We have New Hampshire (meat strain), Blue Laced Barnevelders, Standard New Hampshires, Exhibition Barred Plymouth Rocks, and Buff Laced Polish. The Polish are probably the least docile, with the meat birds being the most docile. Barnevelders are a great breed! That land somewhere in the...

How intense is your pecking order?

Thank you. Whew! Bears we don't have, thank goodness. Bobcats we do but no sightings yet we did have a skunk that was a problem, but we took care of that. And we have well behaved beagles, my girl beagle is always at the chain link fence barking like mad at that German shepherd when she's...

How intense is your pecking order?

Thats a great rooster you have there! Doing his job! I wish I could let ours free range but Hawks, eagles and a big German shepherd next door won't let us i had a hen in recovery of bumble foot jump the 6 foot fence somehow and she is no longer with us the neighbor came over and felt bad but...

How intense is your pecking order?

I have kinda had alot of different breeds over the last 6 years slowing down a bit the last 2 honing in on what was important to our needs. And most of what we have now are milder tempered. I had some Delaware that I couldn't put any new hens with they would beat them to death or bloody them...

This is what I do for pest on chickens 1 clean coop sometimes with a pressure washer let dry then permectrin 2 which is permethrin in a pump sprayer and spray around the coop/pen in cracks of wood or the base of cages thoroughly. Then I use adams flea and tick for Dogs on the chickens 2...

Thank you That is a buff duck I grabbed her by mistake, lol and when they are ducklings the only way to tell a Buff from a Pekin is the Buff's have a little bit darker beak almost purpleish in color compared to an orange color of the Pekin ducklings both have the same yellow down as babies

    Coccidiosis

I have unfortunately experienced this also as I'm sure most have. Cleaning the coop as thorough as possible will definitely be a good thing I have not cleaned my run but if it's bad enough they are listless and feathers puffed out with there heads shrunk in a bit it also wouldn't hurt to...

    Big squishy crop?

I agree and your right pic angle fooled me lol. I once had a young rooster that had a super huge water filled squishy crop and it did subside by the next morning and if she was broody and got a good drink makes even more sense
