Birds are getting into the run

Birds are getting in thru the walk thru door. I was going to hang some fish netting on the inside covering door opening, but I came across beaded curtains on Amazon. Will hang it so it's a foot off the ground or leave it as is and see if the girls will go thru the curtain...

Birds are getting into the run

Sparrows and Jays are getting into the run for free food. Any ideas how I can modify the door opening so the girls can come and go, but keep the unwelcomed birds out? Was thinking of hanging some sort of screen about a foot off the ground, with the door being part way open. What say you?

She hung out in the coop part of the day and free ranging the rest of today. Wonder if she ate something that she should not have. All I can do is hope for the...

Topic of the Week - Insulating the Coop

My cozy coop is insulated with 1.5" rigid board insulation and covered with 1/8" luan plywood. It's insulated mainly for the hot summer days, and also helps with the morning temps when at times it gets below 32 degrees, so far this year it hasn't got that cold. Kinda curious to see how hot it...

    Dust bath

I have 4 hens, they get to free range during parts of the day, almost everyday. They found an old pile of mushroom compost and they bathe in it like pigs. I say pigs because yesterday it was drizzling all day long, I went to see how they were doing in the drizzle as they were not in their run...
