Thank you so much guys. And yup, broody! I got her xrayed just to be safe. I think it's a combo with what Eggcessive said, if that's the time frame for the first molt: both things are probably happening at the same time.
Oh god I want her to raise chicks X) It would be so cute. I wish I had...
I've read a ton of the posts about being broody or egg-bound (or worms, etc) and I'm still on the fence. I plan on taking her to the vet, the thing is, that almost scares me more because the practicing vets here don't seem to know crap about birds, let alone chickens. I've had some really bad...
It will, and it did! We removed the soft-paw after about a month and her beak had grown out perfectly. The old part was still split (of course) so we just filed that off -but all the new growth that came after that had grown together like we needed it to. :D

I like the first one more, but I only took a few shots at a horizontal layout :( So I felt I had to include the best one of those too, considering it's for a calendar layout. Argh! It was so hard to pick. I have, like, 50 of her like this. lol.
I have an amazing one of my other 3 ladies in the...
One of mine sounds exactly like this, well, *past tense.* It's been a while since she did it, but I'm interested in the advice you get.
She's a really normal sized Rhode Island Red (as far as I know at least; she was the "mystery chick" *shrigs*) Right around 6 months she laid a soft shelled...
