Wow, that's great! Thanks for the info. I wish we had know this earlier. What kinds of chicks are they?

Re: My new baby chick needs help

Thanks to all the help we received from everyone in this forum our baby chick hatched last night (https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=5472282#p5472282) This is our first chick we have ever hatched so we still have a lot of questions. The chick still seems lethargic...

Partially unhatched chicken - What do do???

Thank you from another newbie too. This is such a friendly, active, and knowledgeable forum, well the people in the forum :-) I actually had some ACV with the mother in it. I've never seen it in the regular store but I got mine at the health food store. The chick is still hobbling around...

Partially unhatched chicken - What do do???

There is one egg left but I believe it is a dud. We had 4 eggs and the one that hatched was the only one we ever saw move. I put a stuffed animal in and added sugar to the chicks water. It's stomach also looks much better and I guess is closing up. You see more fur then anything. Thanks

Partially unhatched chicken - What do do???

Thanks! This has definitely been a learning experience for my hubby and I. We already have full-grown hens (3) and 1 rooster that we raised from chicks. We also have a miniature horse. We never hatched before. My husband built an incubator for these eggs weeks ago. Can/should I put a...

Partially unhatched chicken - What do do???

The little chick finally is hatched. We had to help him a little here and there. He has been chirping a lot. He is still tired. When it came out you could see the placenta was still attached to the egg shell. You can still see it around the stomach too. I hope that makes sense. I email...

Partially unhatched chicken - What do do???

Thanks everyone for such a great forum. I only took the picture to possibly clarify our situation, didn't really think maybe you've all seen similar? The chick is chirping somewhat intermittently and is moving it's beak and body a bit. I'll email the pic. Thanks

Partially unhatched chicken - What do do???

Thanks for the helpful answers. We have just been leaving him alone since I read the 1st reply. Is there anyway to post a pic I took a few minutes ago. The chick's beak is out and it is moving around. This one's a fighter with a strong will to live.

Partially unhatched chicken - What do do???

This is the 1st time for my husband and I incubating chicken eggs. We are well into the 22nd day. In trying to save the chicken, we had removed part of the shell. We now have a chicken enclosed in it's placenta. In the process of trying to remove the shell we realized the placenta must still...
