    what is the biggest contributor to leg or feet issues when incubating? I've changed nothing on my incubator. Suddenly one hatch has 4 chicks with funny legs... legs that are held up and end up being rotated or crooked.

    Bless your heart, I would find myself keeping them for sure. I learned when I got meat goats that I am no good at processing my animals. Not one goat was ever butchered lol. I'm sure I would do the same with these two. It would be a heck of a lot easier if they weren't so sweet huh!!

    Just thought I would update one last time. Sunny's prolapse returned. We took him to the vet and she took him to surgery to actually cut off the prolapse and reattach the intestine. Unfortunately, Sunny passed away as soon as he was put under anesthesia. She did CPR and wasn't able to bring him...

    Just ad an update, Sunny had his sutures removed on Monday and appears to be all good. No prolapse recurrence as of yet. Here he is sunbathing with his two ladies.

    I'm not sure how much outside time Sunny should have after surgery but I brought him out while I sat and watched today and he is like a new chicken. So thankful to all of you for your compassion and advice! Here's hoping it all stays inside when the stitches come out on Monday!

    Yep. I found a vet who works her practice plus is the vet for the zoo and works on all types of animals. She also specializes in soft tissue surgeries. Maybe she will throw a stitch or two in there lol

    I found a vet who specializes in exotic animals and is also the vet at our local zoo and had a special interest in soft tissue surgeries. She has an opening today at 2, so fingers crossed... maybe some hope for Sunny.

    He seems to eat and drink quite well yes. He isn't very active. He appears to hurt when he walks.

    Can you make a hen broody?

    Silkies and Seramas seem to like to go broody. If I leave multiple eggs in the nest, they take that as a clue to set. I'm sure there are other breeds that tend to go broody as well.
