A chopped, hard boiled egg is a great treat for ducks!
You can also get rid of the contents, wash the shell, crush it up and use it as grit and a vital calcium suppliment for your ducks!
My ducks started laying just before they turned 4 months old!
Ducks will mate at any time - it might not be baby-making though - it could just be dominance.
I wouldn't incubate the first few eggs they lay as they are sometime sthe wrong shape etc.
Most domestic duck breeds have an incubation...
I started by girls on layers pellets at 10 weeks old and they lay me an egg almost every day!
You must make sure the protein content is between 16 and 18% - if it is lower, they ducks should be offered chopped, hard boiled eggs (even their own once they start laying!) to help boost their...
I'd love to see a picture of him! I've never seen that colour on a scovie before!
Some things that cause diahoerra are worms, bad food, too much watery food (particularly iceburg lettuce), liver and kidney problems etc.
Ducks do tend to have watery, smelly droppings anyway but if they are...
This may sound a bit strange but what colour is he?
I have had experience with white muscovies which have stained bums that appears to be diahorrea, but it's not. The predators may be giving him a fright which could cause temporary diahorrea, but if it persists, I suggest a trip to the vet.
The crest is caused by a genetic defect which in time can cause neurological problems. The fact that it is still growing worries me. Could you take him to a vet?
Deepending on the severity of the split, you should be aware that the webbing will not fully heal back together - my Daisy (a khaki campbell) got a puncture wound i her webbing and I woas told it would never heal back.
Keep the injury clean and apply some triple antibiotic ointment once a day...

I checked Petsmart and Petco for diatomaceous earth, but they did not have it. Any internet site?
I'm afriad I don't know of any - I'm in England y'see so things are different!
I'm so sorry, I lost my Daisy duck to a fox in January - it came into the garden at 11am. I managed to get it to drop her but she died in my arms. I hate foxes.
Sounds like red mites or lice to me - you can get dust-on powders from a chicken friendly pet shop, but by the sound sof it, it is quite an aggressive infestation so a trip to the vet may be necessary.
I love bird watching too Whilst the ducks are out I like to sit and watch for interesting little birds
Here in England we have wild parakeets which like to fly around my back garden which is always exciting to watch!
I recommend Khaki Campbells for eggs - they can lay up to (and sometimes over) 300 eggs a year and are very hardy; you can feed them the same food as chickens as long as the protein content is about 16-18%!
Also, do not feed them bread, it is very bad for them.
