Being attacked by VICIOUS chick!- UPDATE

You could try the "roo behavior modification" method. Hold him/her on her back in a football hold for a bit. I had one that started to bite/pinch me and I did this plus "pecking" her back with my index finger on the top of her head (not very hard) she no longer attacks me as I am the bigger...

My two suspects are actually the least friendly of the lot. i can scoop them up but they won't come over asking to be held. I have two EE's that are the sweetest things ever, one barred rock that it seems to depend on the day and my two trouble makers. They are always jumping and pecking...

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone would like to give a rooster (or 2) a home near Missoula? they are hatchery stock, one black australorp and one silver wynandotte. I got them at Quality supply from the "Pullet" bins, LOL.. can you believe it, 2 of my 5 "sexed" babies are boys! Arrgh. I...

    Really big bird

When I got my chicks, one of the EE's was the largest, maybe 1/3 bigger than the others, and the BA was tiny. We called her Chicken Little. At 9 weeks, the EE is my smallest pullet and the BA is huge and sadly, I think a rooster :0/ I would look more at comb and leg size, etc instead of over...

My chicks are picking each others tail

I made a brooder out of a dryer box on it's side - super fast and easy, wire with duct tape across the top for ventilation. You might check with your local appliance store to see if they have any boxes? Good luck!

Can chicks drink from a chicken waterer nipple?

Yep, mine works great! they picked it up right away. I had a regular waterer for @ a week and it was naaaasty. Good luck! The rabbit ones can leak. You can get the chicken ones at a good price from Neil Grassbaugh here at BYC

    Our coop is finished.

What a great coop! Good job! the girls look very happy The only thing you might think about was the roost - I had read that they work better with the flat side up instead of on edge, for keepin' the tootsies warm in the winter

I give them the Greek Yogurt too :0) (no added sugars in it). The first time, they were not to excited about it, but now they dive right in. It's hysterical!

What have you named your chickens?

We finally got all of ours named the "twins" (easter eggers) are Chickie Sue (currently Queen of the Brooder) and Sweetie Pie (the only one that actually likes to be held) our black Australorp is the smallest, so she is Chicken Little the Silver laced Wynandotte has two names LoveLace...

    I put them on shavings!

I did the paper towels over the shavings, then just rolled them up to reveal the shavings when they got dirty. They pecked at the shavings for a day or two and it looked like they were eating some of the smaller bits, so I added some sand/grit just in case. (paranoid 1st time chicken momma)...
