From what I've seen, whatever you happen to have handy works best. However, the most popular with my chickens seems to be the roosts made from old 2x4s.

Thanks for the picture Soccer Mom. I had been accusing all the smaller eggs I'd found of being from the banty hens but it seems the guineas have started laying too.
