Is this a Black Star? I think it is.

Well what the heck? I am super confused. I count my chickens every night and none is missing by number. I definitely gave away a black star yesterday, but only one (the one that I used to start this thread). The others were a white leghorn, a RIR, and another chicken who I had a hard time...

Is this a Black Star? I think it is.

Long Version--you can skip as this really isn't necessary. I am revisiting this thread. Yesterday, I rehomed 4 birds. I am pretty dang sure I know who/what I gave away, but now I am missing a very young black star/sex link. I did give away a black star, but she is a huge and older hen. When I...

4-6 year old hens have have poopy butt for months--should I be worried?

Oh! I just saw Manna Pro goat dewormer in pellet form. This looks so much easier. Maybe I'll try that next and will give it to the whole flock.

4-6 year old hens have have poopy butt for months--should I be worried?

Eggcessive, that doesn't seem to be the problem. I think the worm theory might be it. Casportpony, why Safeguard for goats? I ran off to the feed store yesterday and bought Safeguard for chickens before seeing your post. I made hors d'oeuvres of medicated bread pieces. I was going to do the...

No, not dewormed. Wouldn't I see worms in the eggs?

4-6 year old hens have have poopy butt for months--should I be worried?

Greetings! Apologies for not having photos, I hope my explanation will suffice. A few years ago, I had a mature but productive maran develop an ugly butt situation. She always had poopy butt. I took her to a smart employee at a feed store, who recommended using Monostat in that area. I did...

4 week old chick has a cyst or something

Wow! I have been raising chicks for 13 years and have never seen that! It's still dark out, but I'll check on her a little later to see how it's changed. That link was super helpful, I'm sure it's her crop now. She seems to be pooping fine.

4 week old chick has a cyst or something

Hi Folks, I have a 4 week old Black Star. She has not been pecked on (I'm pretty sure) and I just noticed there is a bald area at the base of her neck. There is also what looks like a fluid filled sack. I cannot imagine what this is. It does not look like a a follicle cyst. Any ideas? Advice?

    What is this hen?

There has been a loose chicken in my urban neighborhood. It’s not an everyday occurrence, but there it bis a funny month for chickens (long story short, we lost a chicken several weeks ago. Figured a fox took it. A month later, there she was, in the yard with her sisters!) So now, there has...

A non-chicken resident wants to rent my chicken for bingo -- Q about biosecurity

Oh gosh, I should have been more specific about the handling of her. There is NO WAY I would send her out into the world alone! I was going to bring a couple and handle them myself. I love the idea of livestreaming it. Fantastic! I'll recommend that. I think I'm okay with one person coming into...

    What is this hen?

Oooh...interesting. I've never purchased a Brahma nor Blue Copper Marans (until 2 weeks ago, so they are tiny and cute and look like penguins!) But now that you mention it, she does look like a BCM, doesn't she? But her eggs aren't that dark, FWIW. Honestly, I'm not sure what color eggs she...

Is this a Black Star? I think it is.

Yes, she is a hatchery bird. I was pretty certain about this one, but I got myself so tied in knots, I thought I should check. Thanks!

    What is this hen?

This is embarrassing. I've forgotten what some of my chickens are and my spreadsheet is messed up. This is my 4th post asking for identification help. I think I knew the others I just posted (EEs and Black Star), but I'm not sure. I absolutely cannot remember what this lovely blue/black chicken...
