Thanks sluggospud. I base this coop off of balsessariclan's design and made mine 6' x 10'. The very first paragraph above links to his coop design. He gave quite a few details on how he built it and I just followed his mostly with a few design changes of my own.
NYchickee, thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately I don't know how hot it gets in the summer. Vancouver Island stays fairly cool over the summer and right above the coop are tree branches shading the entire coop. It stayed cool enough for my chickens but I am not sure about hotter locales.
Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I had 10 chickens here at one time and although the hen house holds them well, it doesn't leave much room in the coop. I would let them out in the yard to scratch during the day and they would make there way back at night. The only thing more I would like...
