    Thanks Centrachid. Hawks seem to be the thing on the fourm the last few days - It must be the season. As a "new egg" I must be mistaken about what a juveniles verses adults are, my barred rocks are almost as big as that hawk! To bad, thanks to childhood tramas, I really don't like dogs! I think...

    Darn Red Tailed Hawks!!!!

    Hate to say this, but my run is a cold frame with chicken wire over it. Untill this week, it was just layed over it - figured that if people used fishing line, chicken wire would certianly keep them out - nope.... found the hawk muching on my little leghorn. I wired the chicken wire together...

    Hawk trouble

    I feel for you, I lost three of my five to a hawk this week. I feel I have to keep my two remaining in the coop with the door closed. I'm sure they are bored, but safe! I'm thinking of ways to secure my run even more. You can read my whole story at my post - Persistant Hawk

    I got some half grown chickens a few weeks ago (my first). They are (or were) fully grown now. I grow lettuce in cold frames and thought the chickens would do a nice job of cleaning up a frame once I harvested it all out. I bought a small coop and put it at the end of the cold frame/chicken run...
