    Which is better..A covered run or not?

    I'm going with a wire-covered run to protect from predators plus a small area (4' x 6') just outside the coop that has a plastic roofing sheet over it to give some amount of rain/sun protection. There will also be food and water in this spot.

    Maintaining Brooder Temperature

    I have the same issues - I raise the lamp a few feet in the morning before I leave for work and drop it at night before bed. They seem to be fine with this. It's not perfect; sometimes in the morning they will be kinda huddled together and in the afternoon they are sometimes a bit too warm...
