I got 3 Pekins and 3 Royal Palm turkeys this spring. They all run free with my dozen or so chickens. Now someone just laid a whopper of an egg on the floor of the coop in a shallow nest. How would I know if a duck did this, or one of the turkeys?? Set in there and watch all day??
I was also...
I appreciate the info...I came on looking for information about how much copper was in corn and Oats, but was seeking advice for Sheep, which can't have too much copper. I found post 2 of 42 on the very first page very helpful, but I couldn't manage to print it. Thanks whoever posted it....
I throw a couple handsful to my chickens before they roost up on very cold nights. I read it brings up the body temp a little and helps them stay warm. Too much tho and they'll want nothing else and they'll get fat.
yea she was injured when I found her in the morning. They'd all come down from the roost and this particular hen wasn't walking around, and she had blood coming from her comb. I picked her up and put her in the nest box to keep her from the others, but the next day she was out again, so I...
oh gosh, now I'm really confused......I made a couple of posts, then kept reading down thru the thread. Do I have this right?? You guys finally settled on 1.25 teaspoons of the Oxytet podwer to one quart of water??
I'm treating a hen, she weighs about 5 pounds I guess. I know I'm not...
HA! there it is, the exact answer I'm looking for. OMG I've been just scooping up about a 1/3 of a teaspoon and putting it into about 1/2 cup of water. it' very dark yellow. I think this is WAY too much. Am I going to kill my chicken??
interested in the answer to this.....I have ONE sick adult chicken and I've not gotten a straight answer from anyone on converting the dosage. I called a Pharmacist, a Vet, and my own dr's office. Scary. My problem is I do not know how to convert mg into teaspoons, and then because its just...
This one on the right, do you think he's a SFH cockerel? I ask because I'm in doubt about the comb. I had to foster my chickens out due to a fire and just got a bunch of them back, this is a very beautiful rooster but I'm just not sure if he's actually one of mine. thanx
my sister recently had an invasion of a bug called "Springtails". They are always in the soil and feel on mold, somehow she got loaded with them. Trying to rid "herself" of the constant scratching we dusted her with Diatomaceous Earth, the food grade. Later found out that was not the thing to...
I planted a "Tiger Eyes" Sumac in my chickens run hoping it will grow up nice and tall and won't be poisonous to my girls. The Tiger Eyes variety is also a Staghorn, so I'm hoping this is good news. I have read it is very invasive as it spreads by runners underground. I hope I don't regret...
when you talk about the "red sumac" I assume you are meaning Staghorn which grows wild all over my state of Michigan. I HAVE made Sumac lemonade from it. But I just bought a variety called Tiger Eyes, does anybody know if that is a NO NO for chickens??
I have loved my 2 Brinseas, one was the mini-Advance which holds 7 and the other was the same only not auto-turn.
I had a terrible barn fire Sunday night and lost everything. Think I'll be getting out of chickens. I would gladly sell you both of mine for a reasonable rate, just let me know...
