    5 Weeks Old-Mixed Breeds

Those are my thoughts also! These totally didn't upload in the order I expected them to so my whole last paragraph makes no sense

    5 Weeks Old-Mixed Breeds

I forgot my little bantam/bantam cross! I got eggs from 3 people, this is the only egg that hatched from this farm. So. Much. Attitude.

    5 Weeks Old-Mixed Breeds

I went from no chickens in my entire life to hatching guineas, chicks and ducks. The guineas and ducks were for someone else, the chicks were for me! I have 17…these pics are obviously not everyone, just the friendliest of the group. Several are Polish mixes, the rest are just barnyard mixes. I...

How late is too late in the summer for chicks?

My brooder will be on my enclosed back porch, so warmer than outside, but not as warm as my house. Maybe I'm just overthinking a bit too much! I guess I didn't think about the commercial places incubating all the time! I'll need to get another generator, power outages are not uncommon here and...

How late is too late in the summer for chicks?

I didn't think about straw bales, that's a great idea, we do get pretty windy! I'm in a small town about 30 minutes from Bradford. We actually get colder temps and waaay more snow than Bradford does! I can get all the fertilized eggs I want from other owners, but I'm not sure I'll be able to...

How late is too late in the summer for chicks?

Frost date is somewhere at the end of September, it usually stays mild into November, but we ALWAYS get snow a few days in October at the very least. Maybe I will get one of those heat panels, just to be safe. We will be running electric to the coop, so that won't be an issue.

How late is too late in the summer for chicks?

I don't know the best forum to ask this question, if there's a better option, tell me to go there! I have been a member here for 17 YEARS with no chickens. I FINALLY have a place to have my lifelong dream coop and I couldn't be more excited! The plan is to buy/build a large shed and run and I...

    Grain-free dog food

I feed my lab Taste of the Wild and she does wonderfully on it. I always have people comment about how nice her coat is. Now, they have had a couple recalls, so if you read dog websites, a lot of people say they will NEVER EVER use TOTW, but I think of it as all companies have recalls..dog and...

What exactly is blackberry wine cake? I have never heard of such a thing.

    What are you baking now?

There were a few people on the bigfoot episode claiming to have seen bigfoot. Most people around here don't believe, but most of the restaurants have "bigfoot burgers," or whatever..like the restaurant I work at has a bigfoot burger and a bigfoot sundae...all thanks to the show. You even get...

    What are you baking now?

I just looked up Towanda, heard of it, just don't know where it is...apparently it's in Bradford County. I'm about 20 minutes from Bradford the city. I'm along the NY border, but only 2 counties away from Erie...by 2 counties, I really mean 2 hours. I'm middle of nowhere PA...Allegheny National...

I'm up in Mckean County, we don't have any Amish settlements RIGHT here, they're all an hour or so away, so I'm totally jealous that you have Amish bakeries to go to. I love Amish people so very much! I've met a ton of people from other areas of the state, even down near Pittsburgh, and of...

As soon as I saw "raisin filled," I knew you were from Pennsylvania. It seems as though people from other states don't know what raisin cookies are.

    What are you baking now?

I made some sweet potato biscuits last night. I have never even had sweet potato biscuits before, let alone made them. They are really quite good! I used Paula Deen's recipe because it used regular flour and I believe the other recipes I checked used self rising and I didn't have any. I also...

Something useful for the start of snake season...

My husband uses the excuse that he's afraid of them because when he was deployed to Iraq, he was the one going in the sewers looking for people and there were lots of snakes..actual venomous snakes. I can understand that, but I know he was afraid of them before being deployed as well. The rest...

Something useful for the start of snake season...

I like you. I keep seeing your posts on the other snake threads and you're my new favorite person. But, you're right, in my experience, no one is going to stop killing snakes whether they properly identify them or not. I'm not saying that to be mean to anyone because I understand that people are...

    What are you baking now?

Depending on how long I'm gone grocery shopping today, I may have to make another batch of these things...I've been craving them. I'm definitely going to make an orange scone at some point too, I might have to try your idea of adding cranberries.

    Craft Supply Website..specifically quilting

My grandma has given me a couple different websites that have patterns/material/whatever, so I can buy myself some stuff for quilting projects, although this particular site has everything. Now, of course, I get all these grand ideas and do nothing with it. I have a nice little stash of...

    What are you baking now?

Thanks! These are actually the first scones I have ever made. They were very simple and quick to make (minus the half hour for chilling) so I will absolutely make them again. There are TONS of scones recipes. You could easily find recipes for each of those things, but I don't see why I...
