Tips of comb kind of purple

Thank you for the thoughts. Her comb looks better this morning. She was broody for a couple weeks and her comb starts to flop over when she's broody but comb had straightened up in the last couple weeks of not being broody. She has been laying more eggs than she did last year and trying to crow...

Tips of comb kind of purple

My seven year old Buff Orpington hen's comb tips are looking purple-ish. Cant be frost bite, its been warm, actually hot the last couple days. Checked her for crawlies on her vent this afternoon and saw nothing. She's healthy otherwise, eating very well, poops fine, lays eggs and sometimes...

How long can she live like this?

She's 7 years old. Condition came on slowly. I've tried a multitude of things to help her get better. Can someone just answer the question? I'm trying to decide how to end her life I guess, kill her or let her pass on. Not that I want to.

How long can she live like this?

How long can my hen live without food or water? Her choice. Not mine. She can't walk and is refusing water and food. I could force water in her but wouldn't that just prolong her death? Thought I would let 'nature take its course' but how many days can she live without water?

No, you never know. I've tried lots of thing already. I would more seriously consider taking her to a vet for the $70+ if she were a younger bird. As we said ealier, antibiotics don't seem to ever help an older bird. I've tried many times. And YES, she's had SO much better of a life than...

Yes, mine too. Mine usually dead with a few months. Antibiotics never do anything and its never worms because they are wormed routinel or lack of anything because they are spoiled rotten. I do feel lucky to have saved a few. Of course, I always want to save them all. Now my problem will be...

I've only cured 3 chickens in all my years (20+) of chickening. One who was eggbound - she then lived to be 10 years old, one with prolapse uterus, and one who was attacked by a hawk or golden eagle -we didn't see it but neighbor did- she lived to be 8 Years old. I've learned a lot but never...

    Large hard growth between toes

I have a hen with a similar lump between her toes but not nearly as large as your hen's lump. My hen's is same color as her feet. Your hen's looks like a tumor of some kind to me. Does it interfere with her walking or roosting?

Plus, she's not drinking water on her own. So I'm stuck with the do I give her water and prolong her suffering or let her die of dehydration dilema. I can't break her neck. No. No way. Dry ice in a cooler I read is fairly humane? I so hate this.

I tried some ACV and olice oil. Didn't seem to help her walking disability. Is there a way to keep her warm that doesn't involve electricity in coop? I want to keep her comfortable and it's in the 30's at night now.

    anyone seen this before?

She stayed in coop all day. Poop (what little there was) looked normal, had some grass in it from what she ate yesterday while she was out. Her comb is still red. Her belly and feels fine, I massaged it again. Crop empty, of course she hadn't eaten all day. I gave her a little cooked rice...

    anyone seen this before?

Yes, checked her vent. Surprisingly, she came out of coop by herself just now (11:00 a.m.). She didn't come out at all yesterday. Still moving very slow and not interested in food really. But sheesh! Surprised me. Gave her some water with gatorade. Now I wait and see. And worry some more.
