The Stickies don't seem to cover this yet.....

Thanks, y'all! I tested out my new thermo/hygro, and it seems to be pretty accurate (I've only had it for a day, so still need to do some testing before trusting it completely). I then compared the new, apparently accurate one to the built-in hydro/thermo in the incubator, and the incubator was...

The Stickies don't seem to cover this yet.....

99-100 even for a still-air incubator? From what I've read the general consensus seems to be 99 for circulated, 101-102 for still-air. With my previous hatch I had it set on 99, and the eggs closer to the heating element had a much higher hatch rate than the eggs farther away from it, so I...

The Stickies don't seem to cover this yet.....

I'll start by saying that I've read a lot of the incubation Sticky Threads, and they've been very helpful with a lot of my incubation questions - thank you to everyone who contributed to those! But with this latest hatch, I've run into a problem that the stickies don't seem to explain. Not a...

How can I calibrate a digital thermometer?

Thank you! Sounds like a good suggestion. My thermometer/hygrometer consists of a couple of wires coming from the heating element of the incubator, and stapled on the other end to a piece of lightweight plastic, presumable to keep it from falling down between the eggs. Could you post a link to...

How can I calibrate a digital thermometer?

I'm incubating with a brand new Little Giant 9300. This is my first hatch with it, and so far it's not looking to promising. It's day 22, and out of 48 eggs, four have hatched, one died in progress, and none of the others have shown any interest in beginning to hatch. I think I've determined...

Help! Day 20, can't get the humidity up.

Thanks y'all! It's a digital heater, though, so the hygrometer/thermometer is a small cord attached directly to the heater. So testing it would be a little hard for two reasons: (a) It cannot come out of the incubator. Any testing I did right now would have to be with the lid off the incubator...

Help! Day 20, can't get the humidity up.

I'm incubating is a Little Giant 9300 and the humidity has been pretty constant between 40 and 50%, occasionally jumping to 55%, but then back down for most of the incubation. Now, though, when I'd like to raise the humidity to 55% for hatching, I can't get it above 40, and it's even a little...

    Virginia

I am in Central VA, Lynchburg area. My electric heated chicken waterer has been freezing, every night, even though it sits on hay inside the chicken house. Can't believe this long cold spell. If anyone knows of someone with an extra Rhode Island Red rooster in my area, I've been looking for one...

    Chilled eggs

My power went out yesterday and the incubator temperature got down to about 82 degrees before I could get it to a power source. The eggs are scheduled to hatch this coming Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Are they likely to be okay? I've also heard that if eggs gets chilled during incubation...
