Ok then.. I am thinking my one year old goosey girl is not going to lay eggs. I have waited and watched, waited and watched and nada. Nothing at all. I would think that she should be laying by now. She just turned a year old.
I got 6 day old Silkies at the auction yesterday. I have never had white or buff. Is it hard to tell the buff day olds from the white day olds? I think I have one white with five buffs but can't say for sure. The (what I think) are yellowish with buff colored wings. Do those sound like...
Whenever I clean out my nest boxes and put new hay in there they are usually the first ones to run over, look around and get in.. What they heck? They always do this and I am wondering why? Are they just being really nosy or are they making sure all the new change is fine for their hens?
I got a 12 week old little girl yesterday for the kids. She is grey squirrel colored and the cutest little thing I have ever seen. Does anyone else have this breed? I hold her and she cuddles right up to me and spreads out in my lap and closes her eyes. We had rabbits growing up but none of...

Me too. I babied mine A LOT! A friend of mine got four that I got with my two at the auction and hers don't bother anyone. Of course she doesn't have children but mine will try to push most adults around.

Mine don't bite me, although they did chase a friend when I was gone, that must have been hilarious! I'm going to sell or otherwise rehome mine because sheep are better for the health of the pastureage around here, and they're noisy and annoying. We...
Interesting points of views for sure. I love all the input this thread has gotten. So many ways to approach geese during breeding season.
Do any of you get flack from people who don't understand why we have geese? I am so sick of hearing "why do you have such vicious creatures THAT BITE YOU?"...

Ouch, ouch, ouch.. I am sure that did hurt.
Today I went out to feed them in their house and they got my arm again. I firmly told them both NO and they continued. I struck them on their bills firmly with my hand until they eventually stopped. I must have ended up slapping them...

A few months??? I was hoping it would pass in a few weeks. My hubby can't care for them in the afternoon so I guess it's up to me to feed them and water them.

I really do like this idea but I don't think this will work for me. I tried to move very slow and did a few times and spoke firmly at them. When I put my hand in it was like flies on poop! They were all over me in the blink of an eye. Of course if I were outside and could move...
So tomorrow I am headed out with my weapon of choice and won't back down. I will say this though.. When they were biting me it hurt more than I ever thought it would. They chomp down hard. The two of them were going up and down my wrist at the same time and it hurt. I won't back down...
