The reddish areas on wheaten roos are more gold, and lighter.

There *is* one pic of a "black copper" roo on that page that looks a lot like the one in the ebay auction, btw.
What do your adult hen offspring look like? I'm not all that concerned if her birds aren't "classic" black copper, but the variation is interesting!
I'm thinking those hens in the pic look kinda like Wellie colors. And Wellies are one of the variations of bbr/partridge, right? So I'm wondering...

Since there isn't an APA standard yet, and since egg color is so important in the breed, I guess it's no surprise to find a lot of feather color variation.
