We wrapped them in bacon and baked them in the oven. Didn't even season them and they were excellent. Much much easier to clean than a chicken. I didn't even need a knife to skin or gut.

I processed my first three quail yesterday. Surprisingly fast and easy to do and good to eat.

I'm going to be processing 3 extra males today. Wish me luck. I want a ratio of 1 male to 4 females, not the 4 males to 3 females I currently have.

I have 24 golden quail eggs in the incubator right now. They are on day 4. I made a thread and asked this question but I'll ask it here too. How soon can I tell gender on coturnix quail? What do I look for? Mine are 2 1/2 weeks old and I'm seeing red on the breasts of some of them.

Is there a concern in quail that they take flight while they are housed in a coop and break their necks on the ceiling? What about in a brooder with a mesh top?
