    How separate do they need to be? I'd imagine different pens with chicken wire between them would not be enough? Would a pen 20/ 50 feet away be ok? How do the diseases spread?

    Here in Texas it rarely freezes or snows but the quails are so tiny, will they need light to keep warm in the winter?

    One of my little guys pricked a vein when he pipped and came out with black patches on his feet. Has anyone ever seen this before? He seems otherwise healthy and his feet function fine. It looks like a really bad bruise.

    Sorry if this has already been answered, do they lay in nest boxes or will I need to hunt down the eggs like guineas? ETA: I just watched how to process them. I don't eat the skin on chickens, does anyone know if it would be possible to skin a chicken like this and not have to pluck it?
