That makes good sense. The smaller the quail the more easily they flush and are able to fly. My 10+ ounce birds helicopter in slow motion and can achieve 10 foot vertical (very short duration), but even a 15 year old, one-eyed bird dog could catch them.

My understanding is that they are not able to peck the eggs open, however I have had one crack from them scratching and launching an egg before. If they find one soft or cracked they will almost always devour them. Tasty protein snacks.
