    I think that Silvadene is Rx, so check with your veterinarian tomorrow. You can also get Nolvasan there. Mary

    Don't use betadine, use a nolvasan product instead to rinse the wound. Just flushing with warm water is good, and then apply Silvadene, or triple antibiotic ointment if you have that. Make sure that the maggots and fly eggs are all gone, and check her vent area too. Immediately! Gently soak...

    So sorry! Yes, keep her out of the flies. Alcohol will damage tissue, stop using it here. Rinse the goo off, and apply a wound dressing, and don't bandage if she's in a clean environment. Silvadene ointment is the best! It's originally for burns, and so wonderful for this type of injury...
