I haven't used stock tanks as a brooder. But I do have that exact same stock tank for my adult ducks. They like to use it and like to stand on the ground and play in the water at the tank's edge. They can just barely reach it.
I've only ever brooded ducks in cold climates so they have to...
I'm not sure how you would tell those two black breeds apart. I couldnt tell my 4 cayuga ducklings apart reliably until they were adults. They didnt even get permanent names until they started laying.
I could always tell the largest & the smallest apart but the in-betweeners were virtually...

I sprinkled a cap of that Thomas Labs brewers yeast on their feedings.
I couldn't find Niacin only at my local feed store or at TSC. I got ducklings...
I used probios probiotics and I ordered them from Amazon. My local TSC will have them in stock occasionally-- usually in the horse aisle.
I also ordered bag of brewer's yeast with garlic from Amazon. Red bag- can't remember the name.

He's gorgeous :)
I call those the pool zoomies. All my ducks do it and usually splash most of the water out. My biggest duck started doing that as a duckling in her first swims. She would get the bathtub zoomies above and under water and sometimes she'd pop up right underneath one of her...
What made you decide to get this breed?
I wanted a cold hardy, heritage breed for eggs only. Since we're in New York and Cayugas are so stunning I thought I'd try them as my first ducks.
What are your favorite characteristics about this breed?
They're friendly and really just want to hang...
Oh my gosh. I did not know that the drakes don't grow tail feathers. Now I'm going to have to re-evaluate all my "hens" to make sure they're all girls. I've been anxious about that since I ordered them because I knew vent sexing wasn't 100% with new hatches.
