That's exactly how I been incubating, dry till I see that they are piping. And yes I have a terrible time with humidity. I have been loosing half my hatch after the 18 days. I put the bator in a closet and that hasn't helped. I won't give up. But truly it gets frustrating.
I just got 12 marans eggs by mail. I put them in a dark room till tomorrow. The thing is that I was told to keep humidity at 60 from the beginning. I already have eggs in the bator. How true is this.
