Our pair of year-old hens are reliably laying as well. As long as I get the eggs before they get too cold, they have been viable. Having your own hens laying eggs...and then hatching them out...is awesome!

Correct! That's a cockerel. A few weeks in, you can start to see the differences more clearly - cockerels show barring (particularly black on the wings), pullets should turn a buff color all over.

Nice ones! I see you've got a pretty high male:female ratio. I'm seeing the same thing, across a few batches of chicks. Anyone else having a more normal ratio closer to 1:1? Out of my 10 from Greenfire, I am seeing 7:3 male:female. Silver lining is that I should see at least one REALLY nice...

Received 10 chicks from Greenfire on Wednesday, will post some pics tomorrow. They are less than a week old, and some are already showing color on the wing tips (should be males). These seem to be much stronger and more robust than my previous batch, too.

OK, and here are pics of my chicks! These are the older ones, hatched on or around 09/01/15. These came from Greenfire Farms. Pretty clear to see I have one pullet and two cockerels here! These are my newer ones, hatched on 10/16/15. These came from eggs I hatched from Sunbird Farms...

So Uberchic started the Niederrheiner thread - kudos! I will post some pictures here. I have three Greenfire chicks, hatched 09/01. Pretty dang easy to tell which ones are which. I also have another three chicks from Sunbird, hatched a few weeks ago. Pretty sure I know what they are as well...
