Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, everyone!
I believe my Neiderrheiner babies are ready to go to a new home, although it is very hard for me to part with them. :^) I'm sharing with you all first, in case anyone is interested.
Back story - I can have hens and roosters where I live...
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here is a quick video from today - my Niederrheiner boy and girl, and my little Bielefelder.

@OpalBadger
I have the same luck as you!
He is two months old yesterday. I need to post some new pics this weekend.
You can see his one month and baby pics under my profile, although you could also wander backwards through this thread.
@OpalBadger
Keep us updated on your eggs! I'm always looking for good resources to purchase hatching eggs.
It's too bad you are all the way on the other side of the country, or my roo could live with you!
:^)
I love your pictures, elknsacres!
Hi Sylvester017 - yes, her little dot disappeared and she is feathering out nicely. I can't believe how friendly they are.
Thank you, Bine, for the good info. My Bielefelders have a visibly different body than my Niederrheiners and they are only two months old.
Great videos!
I prefer full-size birds as well, and tend to choose only heavy breeds.
Niederrheiners lay a cream or white egg, Bielefelders lay a brown egg. Somewhere I have written down the breeds used for the Biele and the ones believed to be used for the Niede, but it is probably searchable...
I completely understand your wanting to purchase live chicks and not take another risk on shipped eggs.
I know it is all in my mind (my own perception) but I have less distress with an egg that won't hatch than I do with a chick that dies.
For me, it is much less stressful to stuff eggs under...
@joed1223
My chicks had no trouble integrating, either, although they were hatched in the coop and running around the run with my old hens at three days.
Brinkhaven might be a closer source of eggs for you, and I had a good hatch with my mailed Niederrheiner eggs from them.
Sunbird is north...
Hi elkinsacres!
I can't wait to see pics.
They are the friendliest little things ever - they come right up and stand on my feet when I go into the run! (I can't let them free in the yard or the hawks/owls/bobcats/coyotes/mountain lions/bears will eat them. My two Bielefelder chicks are just...
Yes, the hatching eggs were together.
I may have duplicated these pictures over on my "hi there" post but they should be over here with the Niederrheiners, too, for others who are looking for pics.
You can see how at one month, the girl's dark spot is gone, and the boy's light spot is gone...
The chick in the video is the one with the light spot. I wanted to get home before dark to get you some new pics, but work prevented it - the little girl doesn't have a dark spot anymore, but her coloring is a shade or two darker than the little roo.
With my Red Hill hatch - six Bielefelders...
Hi there! I made it!
I love the Niederrheiners, they are the sweetest, friendliest birds! I am pretty sure I have a boy and a girl which means I will have to find them a new home. I cannot have roosters because of my neighbors.
The eggs came from Brinkhaven Acres and out of six Bielefelder...
