I had an issue with bacteria and temps were about 1 F to low. In order to join in the Easter hatch-a-long I did a staggered hatch which was a disaster. The 1st set of hatchlings introduced lots of bacteria and eventually killed the other fetuses. Only 5 ducklings survived hatch. 2 died...
Sad news. Candled my eggs and day 8 and out of 31 eggs I culled 9. Some were clears and some had blood rings. Most likely due to the time the incubator ran up to 118F and climbing before I fixed the jammed thermostat wafer. . and maybe also because they are only turned twice daily right now...
Aw, isn't he special. Be sure to give him chicken paraphnelia (spelling?) for Valentines day. . or maybe tell him the first chick that hatches will be his new best friend.
That's pretty good! My ducks are slow to start and it's the first laying season for all but one hen. I have 9 hens and getting 1-2 eggs/day right now. Just started a practice run for the easter hatch-a-long with my new bator.
You need ducks. Everyone needs ducks. They are proven to reduce stress or so they say. . . I suspect they reduce your stress just to get you to buy them salad in January in the hopes they'll lay eggs as thanks. Evil, ungrateful creatures. I want more. . lots more. . I need more ducks.
I think "Call of the Temptress" is quite lovely and will get you lots of attention in public when someone calls you. Definitely the way to go! You are officially "Call of the Temptress!"
