Good Morning everyone... I woke up to 7 little chicks this morning out of 13 eggs and it looks like at least a couple more will hatch today. I had a day where my power circuit tripped my outlet and the temp dipped to 65 degrees so I'm waiting until the weekend to see what happens with the other...

Well, for a first timer I'm happy to report that I have 2 eggs that have hatched and it looks like there are 4 more that will hatch anytime. So with any luck the other 7 will follow. Yay!!!!!! I was so worried that none would hatch.

You take it out on day 18 so you don't actually have it in the bator when the eggs hatch.

Oh yes, you need your temp a lil higher than mine. My bator has the fan in it, thanks to my DH. I was afraid of hot and cold spots if I didn't have the fan.

Looks right to me, I have the same one...just got it about 2 weeks ago. I set it up and adjusted the temp and watched it for 3 days to make sure it was constant and on day 3 I started adding water until I got the humidity to about 40 percent. I also purchased the hygrometer/thermometer combo...

My brothers wife just stretches a wire back and forth across the top of her chicken run to deter the hawks, seems to work wonderfully. I don't have an outdoor run built yet, but I plan to do the same thing.
