There is no normal with EE's. ;) It all depends on the parent stock. Remember, EE/OE's aren't a breed, they're a mix of whatever you want, that just happens to lay colorful eggs. I know a number of people who are making EE's with cream legbars. Those end up with a single comb.
First chick has hatched! Surprising how quickly one little chick can make a mess of a well organized incubator.
8 others have pipped, leaving 4 yet to join the party.
Congrats! Lovely little chick. ;) Wish I had some of your wine. I went to bed last night with one egg pipped. I was calm, not too over anxious. This is my third year hatching, so, it'll all be okay. All I did last night was dream about eggs hatching, or not hatching, or turning into...

If they don't explode, could...
Candled today, and have for sure 13 alive and well. 2 I think are dead; no blood vessels visable, no movement. What do people normally do? Remove them, or leave them in?
Okay, hopefully all of my eggs are set now! There's a chance I might add more tomorrow, if two of my hens will cooperate, but I'm going to try really hard to resist.
All eggs from my own flock. In the Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco I have 9; 6 from my SLW hen and mixed breed rooster, and 3 from my...
Thanks. I was worried that the eggs I collect this weekend would be getting too old, but you don't think that will be a problem? They've dropped their predictions for the end of the week's highs down to 27. The interior of the coops are usually warmer than the outside temps, but the eggs are...
Which eggs would be better to set on March 5?
The ones I collect every few hours yesterday, today and tomorrow, when the outdoor temperature was between 40 and 50 degrees, or the ones I will collect in the mid to late afternoon this coming thursday, friday and saturday, when the outdoor...
