Hatch total: 63 chicks
Assisted 12, but then culled 6 b/c of leg/toe issues & one crooked beak - :(
Left with 57 good ones, 4 of which still look rough due to not fully fluffing out.
And to review- set 100 eggs, went into lockdown with 76 eggs.
The good news is ...
8 went to their new home...
Haven't been on here in awhile, but here's an update:
Set 100 eggs 3/6 - between 5 & 8pm, so considered set day as 3/7.
Candled 3/17 -
5 quit/blood rings
13 infertile
Candled again 3/24 PM & 6 more quit
Then, transferred to hatchers for lockdown
Total lockdown # 76
On 3/26, a few early...
If the motor stopped working, then if needs to be replaced - egg turner motors easy to get on eBay & Amazon. But, check to see if the little arm is still in the "track". Mine would pop out when I double stacked it, but with a rubber band it's fine now.
The reason for the rubber band is b/c of the added weight & without it, the little arm pops out & won't turn. But the turner motor seems to be fine as long as there's a rubber band is there.
I know that spot next to the turner motor gets hotter, but mine usually still develop. This time I'll...
Haha! Believe it or not, it's just a hobby, as even though I do sell eggs, chicks, pullets, etc - it just pays for the feed. :) It's not yet a livelihood.

Here's the eggs set in the new "cabinet cooler bator" :
Yes, I know that bottom turner is empty, but need better air circulation before putting any eggs down there.
And the rest are double-stacked in the Genesis 1588 egg turner - top layer newest eggs & bottom layer of eggs due to hatch on the...
Well, due to some issues with the new "cabinet cooler bater" , regulating the temp & trying to make a turner, I didn't set eggs at I'd planned on Saturday.
I ended up just getting 3 auto egg turners at TSC & cutting off one row, so they'd fit inside the incubator. Then, found another fan, to...
I was going to just get the one from TSC but measured the one in the Genesis 1588 & it's just a little too big. :(
Searched for the Rcom egg turner & only found the complete incubators.
Building another incubator, and if I can get it up & running, I'll be joining the Easter Hatch-A-Long. I'm using @Sally Sunshine's design for the cabinet cooler bator. But going to attempt making an auto turner - found some ideas on YouTube; no instructions, foreign language, but it's worth a try!
