Maybe Amy or some of the good hands on hatchers can help you. Where did you get the info that BCM was one of the hardest?? I have hatched 100's of them and they hatch as good as any of the others---never been a problem. Sure candling them is not as easy if you are one that likes to see the...
Well you are on day 22, so your temp must be a little low. When the temp is correct they should start pipping and start to hatch on late day 20 and finish up on day 21.
I am a hands-off-hatcher, so "I" would not open it during the hatch----I would add water to more troughs if you are using a Styrofoam type incubator by using a turkey injector type long needle and some tubing through a vent hole. But I am sure some hands-on-htchers will tell you to open that...
This would be your first ever "set". Hope they hatch soon!! First question is what was the date you put the eggs in the incubator? 60% humidity would be to low for me for the hatch. What was your humidity for the incubation----from the beginning up to lock-down?
If I have this problem---I wash it in 100 degree water with a few drops of dawn, holding its head above the water---let it soak in the water to soften things for a few seconds----I work off anything that is stuck. Then I rinse in 100 degree clear water and dry it a little with a towel and put it...
Good Luck. My problem was not mareks but My State vet where I had my necropsy done---explained everything to me in e-mails/phone---what to do, not to do, what med etc, etc. I even e-mailed a few times shortly after the test. Never had to seek another Vet??
Hmmmm. I am just going to share my story with you. I built the incubator and hatcher you can see in my pic---from the first run--first plug in with them---The incubator run for 17 months---the hatcher 4 days a week---my lowest hatch rate was 95% but I figured out what happen that time and got...
If the sponge works good---Good. If the container is bigger than the sponge----that scrap piece of 1/2" hardware cloth you got laying right over "there" can easily be cut and bent with pliers to make a top for your water container. Good Luck
No---I did not take your post above as a attack. We Good! I will admit I have not got much experience in hands on hatching and with the cabinet I candle on day 12 "some times" and day 18 every time, BUT I do not do as some of you----I do not hold the egg to see the heart beat or if it moves. I...
I was just saying "IF" I decided? I would for sure want to be good at is so I would ask questions and learn. When I first come on here steady I did come down kinda hard on Newbie's that had a lot of problems and told them they should keep the incubator closed during the hatch---Amy and I had a...
That's a great answer. I feel if I decided to become a Hands on hatcher I would work hard to figure out what is needed, when to do what I feel needs to be done and I feel I might get good at it---If I chose to do that.
My concern which is the reason for asking the question is Newbie's. People...
Not a debate Amy---a question. Do you feel that anyone can be a great HOH(hands on hatcher) from the beginning---opening the incubator at will or do you feel there is things they would have to learn to do--- You know---like when to open, when to try to help, when to wait, about the humidity...
