Thank you! I went over to raising baby chicks and there was someone have the same issue I was, so I explained my set up to them. Glad you sent me over there:thumbsup
That's about where I am at right now. I'm having a late lunch and bumbling around in my garage. Checking on my sling baby. He seems to kinda like his chair.
Trying to read about this chair and how long to use it, should feet be lightly touching or not, stuff like that. I hope we get this...
How long should I leave him in that? 30 minutes at a time?
It's made of a 711 big gulp plastic cup. I cut the bottom off, cut up an old shirt and folded a large rectangle in half. I then placed the shirt on the cut part of the cup, trimmed it down to size so I didnt have a ton of extra cloth...
Here is my chick chair and the full assembly with the baby in it. There is also a pic of the underneath and what I did with the vetwrap. Lemme know what yall think. My first time dealing with this. The chick has definitely perked up since I gave it the vitamins
No one else had pipped that I could see. I just went and did some winterizing at the horse barn and some other stuff to pass a bit of time. It didnt take long. I haven't been back to check everyone yet.
I'm gathering as long as no one has pipped I'll be ok to go and candle everyone and see if...
I've got some vet wrap and just made a chick chair.
Just went to check on the egg that was piped in the bator. Didnt have any movement or peeping from him anymore, so I took him out to check him. No movement or sound. Slowly started chipping away at the shell, blood vessels all were absorbed...
I think the peeping is from this little guy, another maybe a silkie egg! He made his little safety hole a bit bigger! Yay for another day of watching chicks hatch!!!:wee:celebrate:jumpy:woot
He is 11. We talked about how some chicks might not make it. Weve had loss to predator and illness in our flocks over the years so he understands loss. Were still hopeful the chick will be alright! He still seems to be having trouble moving around this morning, but hopefully he keeps getting...
You said I dont HAVE to clean them, so can i just move them to the brooder so little flash isnt lonely? Flash is what i named the first chick that hatched. That little one was out ad dried off so quick!!
So should I go ahead and pull them out and wipe them down? Then do bingo immediately to the warm brooder or back in the incubator?
I've got a baby washcloth I was using last night oon the chick I assisted. It's super soft and was taking a lot of work to clean off the dried membrane on him.
:) that's too cute! He was involved earlier today, but when its bedtime, its bedtime. Weve also got a 4month old who doesnt want to let anyone sleep, except himself:barnie. My older son and I got to see the first baby hatch out. I recorded a bunch of short clips of that one. Then he assisted me...
