What would you do for morans and welsummer? I hatched this spring and my olive egger and amerucanas had great hatch rates...my moran and welsummer in the same batch had only 40-50% hatch rate. The rest were DIS and fully formed.
Came home today to 4 Dorkings hatched. One had was zipping and the silkie from last night was still zipping, but not moving. After a while and worried I took out the silkie to see why it wasn't progressing. It died....fully formed but seemed like it couldn't get out all the way. Beak was out and...
As of this morning, 3 chicks out of the shell, 2 more Dorkings piped and one silkie piped! Very happy about that. Not so happy that the 3 week old chicks piled on top of the "momma brooding pad" and crushed a flock mate last night. Poor Amerucana didn't stand a chance. I thought we had it...
Impatiently awaiting my Dorkings and Silkies to hatch. It is day 20 and not a pip in site. I realize that seems crazy, but my last two hatches started on day 19 so I assumed my bator ran warmer (always says 99.5 or 100) so now I am like "wth?". I know they are alive and well bc I candled 2...
Super frustrated with my Dorking eggs and its only day18. Candled last night to make final "toss or keep" call. Out of 2 eggs, 6 clears and 5 blood ring/quitters. That is 11 of 24 eggs non-viable for hatch! Ugh. Just hoping most of the 13 left hatch. I guess I am more frustrate since this...
Day 11 on my Dorking eggs. This has been the easiest (I hope successful) hatch ever. Set the eggs in the 1588 with egg turner, have checked them every so often to add a bit of water, and mostly forgotten them. Candled tonight and 17/24 look viable. 5 were clears and 2 had blood rings. The 2...
So I officially set 24 dorking eggs and 2 silkies on Friday. (Silkies were a random "either take them or we are tossing them" from my daughters friend. (They don't eat the silkie eggs so they toss them if they aren't hatching them.) Dorkings are for my daughters dad so hoping they hatch well.)...
They are white. Although the seller said he has been getting 10% or so hatching grey. (Not sure about dorking genetics... ) All parents are white. It was all I could find in the VA area and her dad is coming out in a month and a half to pick them up, so white/grey it is! They have some...
Hello everyone!!! I am now joining this group because my bator hatch is this week and on Sunday I pick up some dorking eggs to start next week sometime for my daughters dad. If I can find some Delaware hatching eggs in the next week those might get tossed in to bc he wants both. (So far no...
