In short i had a fox attack my broody pen ... i lost 6 silver laced wyandottes and my breeding pair of saxony along with 14 eggs the wyandottes were sitting on that were due to hatch christmas day !!!
1 egg survived which has since hatched but has since died for another reason !!
2 nites later...
So i put 3 eggs each under 2 broody hens .. checked on day 20 ... 3 eggs were clear .. 3 were viable and active .. hatched out 2 but 1 died for unknown reason and still waiting to see if 3rd egg will hatch ... currently on day 28 !!
I am on day 26 of hatching more saxonys and i just found a fresh duckling ... i saw a piece of egg so had a better look ... still very wet so must be only couple of hours old at best !!!
Me and wife have a running bet about the sex of my 3 week old duckling .. i named her lucy but might need to rethink the name if its a boy
The wife insists she can see the darker colours coming through on lucy's head

I dont know ... i couldnt get a correct reading when they wont stay still long enough ... i thought the weight of the eggs was easier and less stressful for them
I have a weird question ... i am trying to identify if i own standard saxony or bantam saxony ... so could anyone tell me what weight bantam eggs are and what weight standard saxony eggs are ???
