    I understand that it is 50/50 over the long haul. But picking a few out of many you can end up with any ratio. My goal was to end up with 8 hens so I doubled that and added 1 for insurance.     My hens started laying by 5 1/2 weeks. At 7 weeks I found an egg in the male cage. Butters is a girl! My late blooming A&M (in hindsight) was the cause of the male agression i had. Now I have 11 girls and 3 boys in an 8'x8' section of my aviary with 3 males caged and waiting on freezer camp.

    To close this out, 5 pharaoh out of 8 and 5 A&M out of 9 turned out to be female. So 10 females out of 17, I can't complain.
