    Worms

We have been successful getting her to eat and drink sporadically. I think she's failing. Spoke to the vet and he agrees. He had given her a 50-50 chance from the beginning. Something else is going on. It's a very sad situation. it might be possible that the maggots had caused more damage than I...

    Worms

I've offered grit. She seems dehydrated. Not eating. Twisting her neck now and then. I'm going to try giving her water with a probiotic in it. I tried one of the recipes suggested in the link you gave me. I feel a little like I'm torturing her. I only gave her one syringe of the mixture...

Yes. We've been back to the vet. The main scab came off and another less scary one formed. I will read the information you provided. I've given her oyster shell as per the vets advice but whether she's consumed it is another question. Thank you.

Thanks. Seems like ever time I understand one thing something else pops up. I do enjoy learning and working with them though.

    Worms

New issue with Buffy. I've been giving her the antibiotic for weeks now. Her eating is sporadic but recently she seemed quite a bit hungrier. She had some far more normal droppings too. Then she stopped eating. When I tipped her over to put ointment on her wound clear liquid poured out of her...

    Worms

Buffy is still with us. In the house. Two doses of sulphur med daily and antibiotic ointment on the new skin. She's not eating or drinking much but she has something everyday. She's getting slightly more active. Still waiting for the large dead skin to drop off. Just thought I'd keep you posted.

This did go really fast. I had a hard time nailing down the diagnosis. I was so sure it was worms at first. Whorp Rock was very helpful. I'll keep an eye on all my animals from now on. Thanks

    Worms

my granddaughter hand fed her some watery mash. This morning she was standing. I brought her to the vet. He said the Epsom salt baths had taken care of the maggots but she has a sizable lesion. It wasn't her messy vent that drew the maggots it was the lesion. She's on an antibiotic and eating...

    Worms

I think it's too late. Maggots flowed out of her but she's barely with us. When I washed her off to manually remove some of them there is a puffy discoloration below her vent that is tender. She's resting now. Breathing slowly and barely opening her eyes. She doesn't seem to be in pain just...

    Worms

I've done more web searching and I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with maggots. Fly strike. I'm amazed at how few of my books address this. The poor girl has been suffering for days from the inside out it can happen even without a wound. She looked so good. Beautiful buff. I'm going to try bathing...

    Worms

Thank you for all the info. I gave all of the girls safeguard yesterday. The buff with the visible worms was hiding out. I isolated her this morning. There are loads of wriggle worms around her vent and smelly watery stool. They are very active wriggling white worms that seem to be coming from...

    Worms

I have a buff Orpington that has a serious worm infestation. Until yesterday she looked great, was a bit more to herself but otherwise normal. I noticed a mess around her vent. When I picked her up to clean it up a bit there were actual wiggly worms dangling out of her. Last night she stayed in...
