    A treatise on Electric Fencing

Ohhhh! Now THAT would have been the smart way to do it. My other (farther away) gates have this kind of handle, but the video showed connecting them to the hot wire at both ends. So I assume when I lay them down, they will zap and snap on the grass. I figured I will be needing to add kill...

    A treatise on Electric Fencing

Ok, I was thinking the same thing this morning as I was looking at it. Yeah, the video series I was following mentioned strainers, and there are a couple spots where I didn't get it very tight, that I thought could use some. Especially the gate. But I suspect the way I use the step in...

    A treatise on Electric Fencing

Oh, that's a good idea about the grain! The bottom wire is on the lowest level of the white step in posts. The next one is the next level up, not counting that they seem to have two hooks right near each other. And then the third wire is spaced a little further. I do think I have a photo... I...

    A treatise on Electric Fencing

Hi. Is there any other way to train them to the fence? Mine already has all 3 strands of wire up. They walk right through it. Is there a good kind of bait to lure the chickens to touch the wire? The thought of dismantling the top two rows and redoing them is a very daunting idea for me.

    A treatise on Electric Fencing

Well now I've finished page 2 of this thread, and they are saying the GFCI getting tripped is only a potential problem, not a definite one. Maybe I need to keep reading... I do love how informative @HowardE s posts are.

    A treatise on Electric Fencing

Oh, well it's not like those instructions were legal code. They talked about this was to avoid interference. Saying that if you hear a pulsing sound while you were on your phone, or felt static shocks at your faucets, then it would mean your grounding rod was too close to either the phone lines...

    A treatise on Electric Fencing

Hi, I'm thinking about putting an electric wire perimeter around my yard, and trying to decide between plug-in, battery or solar powered. Plug in seemed appealing at first, but then I was reading about how to install, and came across a problem that I have not seen addressed yet in all my...
