    I thought I should add that I took one of my last dead birds to the vet who sent blood & tissue to WSU for testing (cost me over $100) and everything came back negative for disease. The vet decided that it was acute hypothermia.

    Well, I lost another one today (another Salmon Faverolle pullet) and have two more that do not look so good. The outside temps are around 10 degrees and it is 17 degrees in the coop. I discovered the reason they are dying...they are getting WET. I have tried everything I can think of...

    Thank you for all of the suggestions. I went to Wal-Mart, bought two big bags of pine shavings, to the feed store & got two back-up heat lamps and two big bales of straw and then to Home Depot and I bought black, thick plastic & a roll of insulation. I cleaned out the coop & put down the bags...
