I don't use plans to build anything, I just wing it!
I used a big box that was actually a shelf and made a door for it. It just has one 100watt bulb, a thermostat (temperature controller) from eBay and two large computer fans. The top three shelves are on an arm and can be moved up and down...

Here is a blog about fixing chick feet to give you an idea. I normally just use a piece of cereal box and a piece of medical tape to keep the toes where I want them.

Last month I hatched a Silkie with curled up toes and it is still wearing shoes... Toughest toe situation I have ever had!
Ahh, sorry to hear about your chick. I have had that happen a few times, that a chick just does not thrive. I imagine there was something wrong from the beginning and yet they are able to hold on for awhile. Little sweetie :love
Wierd! My chick didn't make it out of the egg, just partly unzipped. I tried to help it a little and then saw the yolk :( I have never had a ruptured yolk before, that I am aware of.
I hatched a pile of silkies and got them into the brooder today! Last two were out this morning. I just lost one because it was malpositioned and its yolk ruptured, poor thing. 16 silkies!! I didn't get a paint showgirl, turned out to be a clean neck lavender showgirl and it's so cute! Must...
