    Permethrin spray

I sprayed my birds with the diluted 30something percent recently, and it worked beautifully! Not a single louse on any bird so far, and it was so easy to treat the coop too.

    Thank you.

    Permethrin spray

Environmental Toxicology Permethrin is highly toxic to fish (LC50 = 0.5ug/L to 315 ug/L) and aquatic arthropods (LC50 = 0.02 ug/L to 7.6 ug/L). Marloe species are often more sensitive than the freshwater species. Bacteria, algae, mollusks and amphibians are much more tolerant of permethrin than...

http://myselfreliance.com/home-applying-permethrin-effective-tick-control-lyme-disease-prevention/ So the Martin's 10% is available in CA, just sounds a bit trickier to track down. I can get it if needed, though.... I know people. I just want to know definitively if the 36.8% is or is not...

Looks like it? I'm just going to take a picture of the label since I can't understand a thing right now.

    Permethrin spray

Different brand, but I think so? $8 isn't bad. Maybe I can find it for that.

    Permethrin spray

You think it's different? Bummer. I was hoping to save myself $20.

Has anyone here calculated the dilution for the 36.8%, or am I going to have to sizzle my brain with math?

    Permethrin spray

:thumbsup All day long. If there's a day of increased temps such as it gets above 0° in the daytime I'll treat then. Edit: That's 0°C.

In that case, my coop is never going to be clean of red mites, period. It was built with planks of wood ran along the sides rather than sheets of plywood, and windows are holes cut in the side with more boards nailed on the sides as support. Roof is the same, and behind the nest box is not even...

    Permethrin spray

:thumbsup Yes, I'm very careful to always wear a mask for that sort of stuff. Anything toxic enough to kill lice is not something I want in my lungs.

    Permethrin spray

Should have added that they're only visible on one bird. I know they're likely everywhere.

    Permethrin spray

The bedding is frozen to the floor, and I bent my scooper trying to clean the roosts. :( I can just put permectrin on top of the poop and yech, if that would help.... They're only on one bird, which lives in a dog house in the run most of the time, so I can at least clean that one out good.

    Permethrin spray

Wonderful info in this thread, thank you. I have possible red mites in my flock, and will be trying this to get them gone as soon as it warms up. Right now if I tried spraying I'd end up with chickensicles, lol. I used permectrin powder for their louse infestation last spring and loved how...
