I cut a sponge, or a strip approx 1"x4" & put that in & checked humidity after about 45 minutes & it was up to 43%, so I cut that strip in half & will see where it goes. About how long will it take with the sponge in there to reach its maximum? I hope that makes sense.
Ok, so I think I'll try just adding 1 wet sponge & see what that does. But one question, where do I put the sponge? I have eggs that pretty much cover the whole screen.
I checked my eggs tonight, I think tonight makes 7 days, I still get confused on the day thing, lol. But some, or several of my shipped eggs seem to have pretty big air cells, my local ones seem pretty good. I marked them with pencil & will take a picture in the morning, my humidity is staying...
Also, i can see where their is development & it's up toward the top part of the egg, to where the air sac looks like it would overlap it, if that sounds right. Is that ok? I'll try to get a picture tonight to post & maybe you can see what I mean.
Ok so I candled my silky/frizzle eggs and I have some that the air cell is really wobbly, I can see veins in them thou. I have them in egg cartons, pointy end down, and I started turning them 2 days ago. Should I stop turning the ones that have the loose air cells for a bit?
So I've been reading the "hands on hatching" thread and saw where people were talking about silky eggs needing higher humidity, well I have both, silky and then the regular sized eggs. I've been running my humidity at 33%, or that's what it's been staying at without adding any water, so I was...
Ok, so I got my shipped eggs, they were packaged really well, they have been resting since around 11:00 am, am going to put them in tonight. I have cream legbar, wellsummer, I think, and some silky frizzles, hoping to at least get 1 of those. Those are the shipped eggs, I also have lavender...
Ok, so I got 12 eggs yesterday from a local guy, I left them in the carton to just rest until this morning & then put a book under one end of carton. I have eggs that are being shipped, that I should get tomorrow. I will let them sit for at least 12 hours before putting them all into incubator...
So with warmer weather coming on now, is it still such a issue of where to keep the incubator? I really don't have a room that doesn't have a door going outside, other than the bathroom, but it's way to small, and closet, but no window, would maybe get smelly. I could set it up in like a corner...
I got these two babies today, I love the lavender ameraucanas & just couldn't pass them up. Paid pretty hefty for them though, I'm really hoping they will both be girls, but probably won't be,lol. I'm hoping to get to hatch some of these, but seems the eggs are pretty hard to come by, or at...
Oh thanks, I'll definitely pickup some of that shelf liner, good idea, never would have thought of that! I'll look again for the hygrometer. Couldn't find it at our Walmart either, but we have a sad one anyway. I'll check our farm store.
I got the hovabator genesis with no turner. I bought a extra thermometer but wasn't able to find one for humidity, that was at a hatchery place so may look somewhere else.
Ok, so my incubator arrived yesterday, I have not set it up yet to check temp & humidity, for one, I have no idea where I should put it! My house has lots of sliding glass doors going outside & lots of windows, so having a hard time trying to decide where it would be good to not have drafts &...
