I've hatched about a dozen dorking mix chickens this year. All have had 5 toes on both feet. A little guy hatched today with 4 on one and 4 + a nub on the other. It's too funny!
Is she a dark gray? Someone said she was a silver gray when she was younger and i was sad because that meant rooster. But that's obviously not what she is. I sold my black and birchen hens, but had to keep this one. So, she's my only remaining dorking.
Of the 3 dorking chicks I kept from Sandhill I have 2 hens (black and gray) and one rooster (birchen). I'm tempted to breed them, but with those combs I feel bad in this climate. I don't know what to do! The hens sure do lay a pretty cream colored egg. Maybe I'll just keep the trio, eat...

Ok, now that I've done more research I have figured out that this is a silver gray cockerel. I'm going to have to rehome him. Figures, he was my favorite!
I've posted this elsewhere, but what color is this? It's from Sandhill and was labeled as a black dorking. I ended up with black, birchen and this. It does not have a brown chest.
