I have 6 SG Dorking eggs in the 'bator now at day 8. I candled them and just one is not looking 'right', so hopefully the other 5 will continue to develop. I also have another 10 to go in tomorrow along with 14 Barnevelder (double laced) eggs. Chicks everywhere before I know it!

Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain : Oops... I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that you have to watch them. They usually start weeping within the first 48 hours if they're going to. I'm so sorry... Glad you caught them in time, though... Hey no, I didn't mean anything by it. It was worth a shot, but...

Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain : I would have set the ones with the ruptured air sac... those can still hatch if given the opportunity to settle and you handle carefully. But that's very nice of them to send replacements. Good luck with the 6. Quote: Topping up water in the 'bator last night and I...

I left the eggs with the ruptured air sac to sit in an egg carton overnight and did some reading up and decided to set them and see if anything develops.

I have been in touch with a small scale breeder only a couple of hours away and I am getting some eggs posted to me early next week. Silver Gray is the only colour available here in Australia that I know of. What are the chances of getting a different colour just show up in the breeding flock? A...

Quote: I have heard of incubating to 9 or even 14 days and candling and putting the good eggs under the hen so she is hatching them after only a week to ten days. Easy if you already have eggs in the 'bator though....

Sorry to hear of your troubles RareBreedFancier, I hope you can clear it up. I set 19 Barnevelder egg in the incubator today, I wont bother setting any Dorking eggs for a while yet as I am sure that they would not be fertile. I hope that they will be by November, then I will set every egg I...
