8/17 with one of the girls being broody and sitting. Sadly, one of the eggs she was sitting on last night was stolen by some kind of critter who dug under the 1/2 inch hardware cloth that covers the whole tractor and lays out on the ground around it. I feel so badly because we just candled...
13 out of 17. Two were cracked, though. My husband doesn't like to give the girls in the tractor much in the way of shavings in the nest box, and they circle and circle, and scratch and pick, and lay their eggs from a standing position onto bare wood. We get at least one cracked one per day...
7 out of 9, with one having possible internal laying issues:(
Of the new ones, no-one is laying yet, but my cuckoo marans are very ready. They have bright red faces, combs and wattles, and they have been squatting for about four days. No-one else in that group of nine is squatting yet, so I...
Seven out of nine laying with one of those probably on strike, playing at being broody. I say playing at, because she sits on the nest and screams and chitters at any bird that comes near her, but then gets up to scratch around in the run and wander around in the coop. The new girls aren't...
I have slackers. I got 2 out of 9 today. I'll be going out after dinner to wave the frying pan and make a few pointed remarks about recipes and my love of cooking.
For the first time, seven out of nine chickens. One of the chickens, maybe even two might be roos, so that means virtually everyone laid an egg today!!!
Yesterday we had six out of nine birds (probably a closet roo in the bunch), and today we had five out of the eight who could lay. A pretty green egg each day from our Dora, the EE, and a pink one today. Not sure who that is from.
I have nine birds--possibly one rooster in there---and five of them are laying. I got four out of five today! Actually I should check out there again when I put them to bed. I might find one more.
