Update: We now have 4 dozen a day coming in, with 6 a day ( from 8 leghorns, 7 are laying and one is a hybrid from Cackle giving cream eggs, not going to try to continue that line...) going into the incubator queue. :)
I have a similar (the same without the crawling) issue. I am going to put up a piece of fencing under the nests to keep them out. I put one wood tray in the corner, they laid next to it, now in it and next to it. Learning, learning, learning. I will make my chickens smart. :D
Today's first collection brought in 20, it was at 1 PM so there may not be anymore as the grass blades are now icy. One was 85 grams, a double, and the next largest was 65 grams. Never have weighed the laid before.... :D
EDIT: 5 more, so 25 with one double yolker. A record. With heritage...

our birds are between 5.5 and 7.5 months old. 75 pullets/hens should come online here in a month or two. Cheep cheep, will be getting some straight out of the incubator...
