6/29 But 2 are roos and 10 are still too young to lay. That's still only 6 out of 17 layers! This heat is killing my egg production! And at a time when I am being fooded with requests for eggs (due to the egg recall).

16 eggs out of 20 hens. One of my BOs has gone broody at 26 weeks of age! She is usually very sweet but attacked me when I tried to take the eggs from her. I shoved her off the nest but she jumped right back on and pushed the fake egg (a fake lime) tight under her and settled down again.
I got a record 14 eggs out of 20 hens today! Most are still pretty small, but not as small as a few weeks ago when they first started laying. My youngest pullets, RIRs, just started laying a few days ago. They are 4&3/4 mos old. The oldest are 5&1/2 mos old.
