Went out about 3:00 the EE that was given to us was on the nest so I let her be since she was really bunched up trying to lay. I go out about 20 minutes later after things quieted down and this is the beauty she blessed us with......
With all the cackling and carrying on I thought she was...
Wow had not thought of it but mine lay in the nests all the way to the left of the coop or once in awhile all the way to the right. They very seldom lay in the center nests but always to the left and that is the nest they stand in line for.
We have 6 nest boxes and they all want to lay in the very last one or the very front one. They are funny to watch too. They will stand outside the nest and wait till the hen inside drops her egg then try to climb on top of her to push her out so that the intruding hen can lay. On the rare...
5 out of 6...My Rachel is laying again she stopped for a little over 2 wks. Been letting her out of her yard to run with the flock and she has laid 3 days in a row now. My reward for her freedom.
My 2 older girls will be 2 years old May 6. The one that was attached to the roo has taken his position she even does the roo dance, drops that wing and stamps her feet. Her sister stopped laying in April 2012. She has dropped a small hand full of eggs since but nothing to write home about. The...
We have 6 hens only 5 lay. This is what I collected this morning. Feeling for the hen that laid the big one. The one all the way to the right is laid by hen that stopped laying two weeks ago. She thinks she is a roo.
I have 2 Sussex one for the most part does not lay the other 4 are BO/RIR mix and they lay every day enough so that I always seem to have 18 eggs in the fridge and that is that we use 4 daily. Love my girls.
6 out of 6 today....Can someone tell me what causes them to lay double yolked egg, was getting one or two a week quite while back and was wondering why this happens. If fertile they would not do this, right, they do not have twins.
She laid every day then the last week of March she was acting as if she were bound she was lethargic, ate and drank well and moved fast enough to not let me catch her. She would also bounce her back side as if she were trying to loosen an egg. When in the coop she would allow me to gently...
That was 2-3 eggs since April not weekly I would be good with 2-3 weekly from her. She pretty much stopped laying. 3 in one day ? poor baby she would be in soooo much pain doing that. Could you imagine giving birth daily? That is how I relate to them laying not a treat.
My 1 yr. 7 mo old Sussex has laid maybe 3 eggs since April. Before that she laid everyday maybe missed 3 days. She and her sister were bought in May last year her evil twin still lays pretty much daily she misses a day here and there but she is a good layer.
I collected 5 eggs at 7:00 this...
