    Each chicken will have 20 sq ft in the run (if all make it). I've considered getting a rooster just to help protect the hens, but not sure yet. Babies are still doing good - they are a week old today. We are in NW Missouri.

    Back to update on the chicks! We still have all 15 - they are all eating, drinking, peeping, sleeping, etc like champs. Right now we have them in two huge connected totes -- so they are in something 5ft by 3ft. We are using the heat lamp - but I have it up so it's not directly on the hardware...

    I should note I have the heat lamp on a temp gauge - it will automatically shut it off if the temp gets above 98 in the brooder.
