Hey Georgians. I've got two Roosters that I've advertised on the free part of this site. Click Here I don't want to derail the thread, so I put the link to the Animals in Need of Rehoming part of the thread.
Friday evening, I had an unpleasant encounter with one of my neighbors. In the past, I've had issues with their dog coming onto my property. Twice, I've visited with them and they've assured me that they'd keep her on a leash. I was home Friday afternoon, all my windows open when I heard all...
Since all the chicks we bought are going to grow quickly, time is ticking on us building the new and larger chicken coop. I knew that I'd be doing labor soon. On the positive side, I found a bunch of 2 X 4's and 2 X 6's on the 70% off Cull Lumber rack at Home Depot.
On the positive side, going forward you will now be able to advertise and sell birds. Keep in mind that from a tax standpoint, all of your supplies, feed and stock may be deductible as costs of doing business, selling birds.
Between my DD12 and myself we got a bunch of photos. I needed to edit them a bit, then rotate them all correctly. I'm working on uploading them to the local newspaper site and I'll link them here.
Here's some photos of the event. I'll also try and upload a gallery here. Were you Spotted at...
Planning to arrive around 10. DD12 is excited about seeing all the animals and selecting a few chicks. Expect her to be a picky chick swapper. She's got her Cluck-ulator app, she says she's not adopting any chicks that are meant for a pot. (Meat Chickens)
I think it was because we only had one Silkie. Maybe she just didn't fit in with the others. We had to keep her segregated almost all the time because they picked on her. She spent more time in the greenhouse (our back up chicken house) than in the coop.
I am certainly considering it. We aren't far away and she really likes animals.
Trust me, we don't worry about pedigree. We raised six from day or two old chicks last year (bought at our TSC) but two of them turned out to be roosters. Hmm, how did that happen, I paid the extra dollar for...
My DD12 wants to pick up a half dozen chicks of different breeds (little bitty ones that go in the brooder). She also would love to take pictures, super close ups on animals. She got a new camera for Christmas and it isn't like when we were kids and had to pay for film.
Will there be lots...
Okay, I've read pages and pages about this upcoming swap meet but what I'm not seeing are the details. I've figured out that it is Saturday. It is at the McDonough Tractor Supply. Where are the details??? My DD12 wants to add five or six hens (chicks) to our flock but she wants different...
When I was a kid our goat didn't have a fence. He had a 50' line tied to a rim & tire. That gave him a 100' area. When we needed another area moved we just moved the tire & rim. He was a happy goat.
Monroe has eight. We're big time.
The town that I lived in when I was a kid, Palmyra Township, Ohio has one stoplight in town. It's one of those where all four directions are in a single fixture hanging in the center of the intersection. To this day, no one knows if it actually has bulbs in...
No problem. That work thing always getting in the way of hobbies.
I appreciate that comment. I am making progress on the coop. However, I've learned that I made a few mistakes.
Moving the nesting box to the side so it will be outside of the fenced area for egg collection

Oh heck, I'm just outside of Monroe. Tell me about the coop. You are just up the street. While I have a coop, it's homemade and well, I'm not that good of a carpenter. Do you still have your chickens?
